Tossa de Mar

The first time I visited Tossa, I arrived by boat from Lloret de Mar and this was taken then.      2005

A view of the fortress walls from the beach at Tossa de Mar. This town is very upscale with nice hotels

and very quiet in the evenings.  The fortress walls are lit up at night and it's quite a sight.   2005

There are places to explore inside the fortress walls.      2005

A view of the Tossa de Mar bay from the fortress walls will take your breath away.      2005

This photo was taken with my pocket camera from the top of the hill.        2005

A view of the beach from the east edge of town.      2005

A hotel by the beach and castle.      2005

There are many places to eat next to the beach.         2005

I think of this as a fort instead of a castle, but I'm not sure if I'mcorrect, but either way its cool.          2005

 LLoret De Mar

LLoret De Mar is busy and touristy during high season (but not in May)

This castle may not be all that old, but it looks cool, the beach and water clarity

here is awesome!  5-20-2011

A closeup of the LLoret De Mar castle/landmark.     2011

There is a nice walking path on the east side of the beach just past the castle.     May 2012

The Mediterranean Sea is crystal clear in this area making it very popular with all kinds of water recreation.  2012

LLoret De Mar has a nice beach.        5-20-2011

There were a ton of American college kids at this town starting summer break.        2005

In Europe it's a Kebab, in the US it's a Gyro, theirs tastes a hell of alot better than any I've had at home,

so I will give them the credit for having it first and I'll call it a Kebab as well.      2012

The mountain rises up behind the hotels.     2012

LLoret's tourist office was very helpful.     May 2012

LLoret De Mar. if you head either way from town, you will find

good hiking paths along the rocky coast.  5-20-2011

Just west of the town of Tossa.      2005

This is an example of why they call this the rough coast   2005

This is a modern state of the art train for regional travel. The stops are announced verbally and on screens.

I took this train down the coast to get a break from the city, It travels along the coast most of the way.

BTW the forty mile trip was only 5 euros each way, but makes a lot of quick stops.      May 2012

This wasn't the prettiest spot on the beach, but I wanted to give you an idea how close to the water it runs.   May 2012

This is the train station in the small town of Blanes. This town is the first town of the Costa Brava

were the coast line becomes mountainous. From here the train heads inland, so you must take a car,

boat or bus to Tossa & LLoret.  Blanes is an ok beach, but Tossa & LLoret are much nicer.     May 2012
